Designed in a collaboration between Stokes Croft China and the SS Great Britain, these pretty tea light holders feature archival images from the Illustrated London News.
Inspired by the antique Victorian china used on board the ship, as well as the modern-day experience of visiting the SS Great Britain as a museum, these tea light holders bring a touch of nostalgia.
Artist Bev Milward has created these designs using images from both the SS Great Britain's archives and the ceramic archives at Stokes Croft China. Each piece has been hand decorated with ceramic transfers before firing.
Bev is interested in the longevity and sentimentality of ceramics, how they infiltrate our lives and can be used as a tool for communication long after leaving the maker. This project combines history and long-lost artisan skills to create a product which feels both traditional and fresh at the same time.
