SS Great Britain Legacy Bookmark

Keep your place with a real piece of the SS Great Britain! These bookmarks have been made from Jarrah wood which formed the top deck of the SS Great Britain from the 1990s until 2023, when it was removed during conservation work.

From his workshop in Fishponds, Bristol, furniture maker and woodturner James McQuade makes beautiful homewares and keepsakes. James embarked on his journey with woodworking in 2022, initially finding the craft as a way to work through grief, then founded his own business in 2024.

In awe of the natural beauty and variety of wood species, James jumped at the chance to work with the stunning claret hues of the SS Great Britain's Jarrah Wood. His designs are understated, allowing each piece of timber to tell its unique story
