SS Great Britain Jigsaw
SS Great Britain Jigsaw
Made for maritime history fans and puzzle enthusiasts, this 1000 piece puzzle features an aerial view of Brunel's famous steamship in her dry dock in Bristol.
The SS Great Britain was launched in 1843, when she was the largest and most advanced ship afloat. The first iron-hulled, screw-propelled passenger liner, she could sail to New York and Australia faster and more reliably than any other ship. During her long life at sea, she sailed a million miles, carrying some 20,000 passengers to the other side of the world.
Now she sits in the very dry dock where she was built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel and his colleagues. The amazing ‘glass sea’ in which she is preserved, the single most significant step in the work to stop her corroding, was completed in 2005. Faithfully restored, she continues to delight hundreds of thousands of visitors every year.
