Frances Duberly was a real Victorian woman who travelled on board the SS Great Britain; a writer and journalist with a sense of adventure. Our wooden figure is inspired by her and many other Victorian women who wanted to learn about science and the natural world, despite this being frowned upon at the time.
These figures have been designed exclusively for the SS Great Britain in collaboration with Lanka Kade.
Lanka Kade are committed to only buying from suppliers who value their workers. Since 1994 the company have been producing fair trade wooden toys, regularly visiting their suppliers in Sri Lanka to ensure standards of working conditions are met.
