Payments

How do I pay for my order?
We accept a variety of card payments, including:

  • Mastercard
  • Visa
  • Maestro
  • Solo
  • Electron
  • Delta

All payments are processed through WorldPay to maintain security and prevent fraud.

Is it safe to order online?
We use the WorldPay payment system, a combination of both established and innovative techniques to ensure the security and integrity of all sensitive data. WorldPay’s public web servers are certified by Thawte, a public Certificate Authority, ensuring that nobody can impersonate WorldPay to obtain confidential information.

The transfer of the purchase details from the retailer’s site to WorldPay are encapsulated using WorldPay’s own encrypted and digitally-signed protocol. Communication between the shopper and WorldPay is also encrypted to the maximum strength. Shoppers are also protected from fraudulent use of their card in a "card not present" environment, by their card issuers. The card issuers provide the right for a shopper to dispute a transaction if the goods/services did not arrive or if the card was used fraudulently.

Data storage on WorldPay systems, and the communication between WorldPay and the worldwide banking networks, is regularly audited by the banking authorities to ensure a secure transaction environment. WorldPay also ensure that they are up-to-date with the latest versions of any third-party code and continually review their own proprietary code.

Donations

Can I make a donation to the ss Great Britain Trust?
Yes – use this link to make a donation to the ss Great Britain Trust.
Thank you for your support.

What happens to the money I donate?
The ss Great Britain Trust, a registered charity since 1971, relies on donations to keep the ship and her collections conserved and on public display for all to enjoy.

Your support could help in the following ways:
£10 would pay for an authentic replica newspaper from 1860 for passengers and visitors to read.

£30 would pay for a new smell vial that brings the cabins on board to life. Current smells include tallow, carbolic soap, rum and even vomit!

£50 would pay for a role play and education workshop for 30 primary schoolchildren.

£100 would buy a new royal standard or national flag to be flown from the ship’s masts.

£500 would pay for a realistic figure to be dressed.

£1,000 would pay for new educational resources and costumes for role-playing.

£5,000 would cover the cost of maintaining the ship’s massive three storey replica steam engine for six months.

£10,000 would conserve 10 metres of the ship’s delicate iron hull for one year.

Gift Aid

What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid is a government scheme that allows the ss Great Britain Trust to claim back the tax on all membership, donations and ticket purchases made by UK taxpayers. By choosing to give Gift Aid, the value of your contribution increases by almost one third at no extra cost to you.

Will it cost me anything to use Gift Aid?

No, not a penny. We reclaim the money you have already given to HM Revenue & Customs as part of your taxes.
